1. Growing Sales Are Stuck in Debtors
Your sales are going up, but customers are paying late. The more you sell on credit, the more money gets stuck in the market. Your profit shows in the books, but the cash is still with your customers. Growth without collection creates a cash shortage.
2. Too Much Money Is Locked in Stock
To meet higher sales, you keep buying more stock than needed. Slow-moving and extra items sit in the godown and block your cash. Your profit may look good, but your money is not available for daily use. Growth needs more stock, but wrong stock drains your cash.
3. Profit Is Used to Buy Assets and Repay Loans
Your profit is spent on machines, vehicles, shop renovation, or repaying old loans. These payments reduce cash, but they do not reduce profit in the same way. So the books show profit, but the bank balance is empty. Many owners forget that loan repayment is not an expense, but it still uses cash.
4. Owner Withdrawals and Personal Expenses Are Too High
As profit grows, the owner also starts taking more money for home and lifestyle needs. Sometimes the withdrawals are more than the real cash available. This leaves too little money for running the business. The business looks successful, but it has no cash to support it.
5. Fast Growth Without Cash Planning (Overtrading)
You grow faster than your cash can support. You pay suppliers and staff quickly, but collect from customers slowly. There is no cash flow budget to show the gap in advance. A fast-growing business without cash planning can collapse even while making profit.
Simple Rule: Profit is not cash. Growth eats cash first, and gives cash later.
