1. Customers Are Not Paying on Time
You made the sales, but the money is stuck with your customers. When payments are delayed, you cannot pay your own bills. Profit may look good on paper, but there is no cash in your bank account. This is one of the most common reasons for a cash crisis.
2. Too Much Money Is Blocked in Stock
You bought too much raw material or finished goods that are not selling fast. Your money is lying on the shelves instead of working for you. Slow-moving stock also gets old, damaged, or out of fashion. This reduces your cash and your profit both.
3. Expenses Are Higher Than Income
Your monthly costs like rent, salary, electricity, and loan EMIs are more than what you earn. Many owners do not track small daily expenses and personal withdrawals. Slowly, these costs eat up all the cash. If you do not control them, the business keeps losing money every month.
4. Poor Cash Planning and No Cash Budget
You do not know how much cash will come in and how much will go out. Without a cash flow plan, sudden payments like tax, GST, or supplier dues create big trouble. Many owners only look at profit and ignore cash. This is a management problem, not just a money problem.
5. Wrong Pricing and Weak Profit Margin
You may be selling your product or service at a price that is too low. After paying all costs, very little money is left for you. Discounts and offers can also hurt your margin badly. When the margin is weak, the business cannot create enough cash to survive.
Simple Rule: Profit is an opinion, but cash is a fact. A business can have profit and still shut down if there is no cash.
